Manufacturing Process for Alloy Steel Casted Rolls and Reels
The casted rolls and reels are made from casted from They are either processed by hot rolling or hot forging. These bars are further heat treated as per customer requirements by
- Stress relieving
- Normalizing
- Austempering
- Quenching and Tempering
Then they are further
- Proof machined or
- Finish CNC machined as per drawing ready to use
Quality Check of Alloy Steel Casted Rolls and Reels
Following checks are conducted in casted roll/reels and reported in the TEST CERTIFICATE as per customer requirement
- Surface inspection (Magnetic Particle Inspection) is carried out of each bar end to end
- Positive Material Identification using XRF to certify in process chemistry of each bar
- 100%-dimensional verification using calibrated Vernier’s and Go No-Go gauges
- Step down testing
- Upset forging test
- NMIR (Nonmetallic inclusion rating)
- Macrostructure testing
- Microstructure phase analysis
- Grain Size
- Ultrasonic Testing for internal defects
- Radioactivity test
- Gas analysis (O, N, H)
- Nodularity
